Which talent would you most like to have?
Music. I would love to be able to play traditional Vietnamese musical instruments for the audience as I perform my poetry and prose.
What is your most treasured possession?
My family and my books. My family has been most loving and supportive of my writing journey. Books are my constant companions on that journey.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Jump into a pool surrounded by trees. Swim some laps. Get out and start reading a really good book while being surrounded by my family.
What is your motto?
Live each day as it was the last.
How would you like to die?
I’d like to think that we go on living in the legacies we leave behind, no matter how small these legacies are.
If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what would it be?
I don’t think I can ever finish all the stories I want to write, so I think I’d need to keep coming back as a writer.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Patience. I am so impatient to get things done.
What is your current state of mind?
Energetic and grateful.
